The Family Farm League is simply a group of Napa Valley residents dedicated to getting more food grown in the region.

Our efforts start with our annual Seed Exchange. The entire community is invited to offer, trade or simply take extra seeds from neighbors. Working closely with local ag students, nurseries, master gardeners and food businesses, League members have access to all sorts of seeds. Heirloom and family farm-raised seeds are encouraged. GMO seeds are discouraged. Local groups that encourage food production are invited to the Seed Exchange to offer information, share advice and meet others interested in local food. Food is prepared by students in Vintage High School's Seed-to-Table program.

Starting in June, members are invited to a quarterly potluck. These casual dinners are a great way to share progress reports, enlist aid and encourage our local gardens. Click for photos from a recent potluck.

Mission Statement
The Family Farm League’s sole goal is to encourage local food production, from small kitchen gardens to large-scale acreage for wholesale vegetable or grain production. The Napa Valley has long been an agricultural area, blessed with an incredible climate and soils. Thanks to the wine industry, our agricultural heritage has gained cult status—in grape growing. Our League aims to increase the diversity of what is grown here to reveal a more sustainable Napa Valley. Wine and food are a natural pairing, and we’d like to see that union grow here, from the ground up.
